Lula Lake News
Drop Pool
Earlier this year our board of directors decided we needed to do a better job of keeping you informed of news, upcoming activities, and general information about the Lula Lake Land Trust (LLLT).  After talking with several of our sustaining donors, it was suggested we create a monthly electronic newsletter to help with this task.  While this may not be an ideal format for everyone, many of our friends and donors do prefer electronic updates and we've decided to begin with this, our first issue.

You've been added to this list because at some point in the past you provided us with your contact information.  If you do not wish to receive these monthly newsletters, simple instructions on how to be removed can be found at the bottom of this email.

Also, over the next several months we'll be working on our new website.  We'll let you know when it's ready - but expect great things!

Corporate SponsorshipDrop Pool

The LLLT would like to recognize Corporate Sponsors for our 2008 Open Day Series. To date we have raised $5250 of the $25,000 in sponsorships, so we'd like to express our appreciation to Chattem, Rock Creek Outfitters, and Stone Source for their support!

We are off to a great start but need your help! Corporate sponsors are frequently mentioned at our meetings and events, will be displayed on our website, and have their name / logo added to a banner that will soon be on display at all times at the LLLT. Call Adelaide Bratcher at 423-240-6046 for more information.

The PointFrom the Desk of Katherine Eddins, Executive Director of the LLLT

We are just about through hammering out the details of an Operating Agreement with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to operate the Cloudland Connector Trail. This trail runs from the Nickajack Road trail head, through LLLT property, private property and then crosses 157 where it links to Cloudland Canyon State Park.  We have just about finished construction on the final section of the trail- finishing touches are being put on it now.  The trail will continue to the "5 Points" area and then eventually run to the area around Cloudland Canyon's entrance.

Through our partnership with Georgia Land Trust, we have worked with landowners to place conservation easements on two properties adjoining Cloudland Canyon State Park and other protected properties. Both Easements protect mature hardwood forests and fragile bluffs and forested areas along Bear Creek and Price Branch.  This year, we will continue our effort to work with interested landowners in and around LLLT and Cloudland Canyon State Park to protect more lands with conservation easements. If you are interested in talking to me about protecting your land with a conservation easement, please contact Katherine Eddins at 404.861.8567.

Thank you for taking the time to read our first newsletter.  If you have any suggestions or comments on how we might better communicate, please feel free to contact us:  abratcher@lulalake.org.

Sincerely,

Katherine Eddins - Executive Director
Adelaide Bratcher - Head of Development
